System For Managing Subscriptions |
The subscription list for The Wednesday Letter is growing nicely, but it has become cumbersome to manage the additions, removals, and actual monthly broadcast. Karl Loren arranged, starting with January 2000, with the largest list service on the web (Sparklist) to manage the subscription list and actually send out personalized copies of the Letter. Karl is still the sole author and authority for this Letter. No other person can access the names on the subscription list or control what appears in the Wednesday Letter.

Your name, and eMail address, will be stored on a secure web site, still under the exclusive control of Vibrant Life. Click Here to read the Privacy Policy of this list service. Your name and address are never given or sold to any other person or entity. Your name and eMail address are used ONLY by Vibrant Life, and Karl Loren, to send you The Wednesday Letter. It is now easier for you to remove your name from the list. It is also easier for anyone to add his or her name to this subscription list. |
This list service will eventually allow me to offer all sorts of automated information. For instance, I can place a link on any of my 8,000 pages, so that the link will cause the list service to send to you, automatically, some particular page, or set of pages. This might be information which is NOT published on the web site. You could, for instance, get back copies of this Wednesday Letter sent to you simply by clicking on the date for that Letter in some form.
Already I have placed simple subscription forms on most of the 8,000 pages of the 7 web sites I control.
One of the important features of this list service is that you can encourage your friends to subscribe to The Wednesday Letter by simply sending them YOUR copy of the Letter. At the bottom of every Letter, from now on, will be a simple subscription form. It will require only two pieces of information -- your name and your eMail address. In the future EVERY Wednesday Letter will be personally addressed to that name (it can be a fictitious name if you wish, or even left blank).
The list service will then automatically send you a form message, to the eMail address you have provided, asking you to confirm that it is YOU who wants to be on the subscription list. You will NOT be placed on the list without a confirmation from YOU. This ensures that we have a correct address.
The form message looks like this:
Please reply to this email message to confirm your subscription to
wednesdayletter.Your email address has been entered for a subscription to the
wednesdayletter mailing list. However, your new subscription requires a confirmation that you received this email message and want to join this mailing list.If you do not want to join, do nothing. You will be automatically
removed. To confirm that you do want to join, simply reply to this message.
Make sure that your message is addressed to
sparklist-confirm-XXXXXXM@sonic.sparklist.comTo unsubscribe immediately, you send an email message to
leave-wednesdayletter-XXXXM@sonic.sparklist.comThus, it is impossible for someone to enter a subscription list for you without you knowing it.
When you get the automatic confirmation of your request, you will be able to simply click to return the message and your subscription will be finalized.
When the Wednesday Letter is sent out, YOUR COPY actually contains exactly ONLY your eMail address, no others. If you want to be removed off the list, then the same exact copy of the Letter, received by you, when returned will have the exact eMail address that needs to be removed from the list.
Removals from the list are handled in a very ethical way. I don't even know who has been added to, or removed from, the list.
First, I wanted to make it easy, but second I wanted to be sure that someone could not delete you from the subscription list without your knowledge.
So, if you send in a remove request FROM THE SAME ADDRESS AS THE ONE USED TO SEND YOU THE LETTER, then the removal is immediate. All you have to do is click on the link ON YOUR LETTER. It will look like this:
The above is how MY letter looks. The message on YOUR letter will be personalized to your name and address. So, if you click on that link, on YOUR letter, and send it out from YOUR eMail address, the removal will be instant. (If you click on that link from YOUR address, my name will not be removed, but I will get a request to confirm the removal. I would, of course, simply ignore the request and the removal would not happen!)
However, if you send YOUR copy of the letter to someone else, and they happen to click on that same link, the message would be sent out from an address different from yours. When that happens, the Sparklist program then sends you a message asking you to confirm that you want to have your name removed. You have to confirm this request, in this case, in order to have your name removed from the subscription list -- this prevents another from taking your name off the list without your knowledge.
You can subscribe to The Wednesday Letter from any of the 7,000 pages on the various web sites created by Karl Loren. At the bottom of every page, just as at the bottom of THIS page, is the same type of information. There is a "navigation menu" which varies somewhat depending on which web site you are visiting. Below the navigation menu is an explanation of the subscription process.
Below that is a box with a field for name, and one for address, then a button.
All you have to do to subscribe to the Newsletter is enter your name and eMail address and push the button. You will then get a "thank you" page. Soon thereafter you will receive an eMail, a request for confirmation, and you must reply to that, simply by hitting the reply button on your eMail program.
This information actually is then stored on a professional list manager service -- called www.sparklist.com . We are very confident in the security and integrity of SparkList, and accept their promise that none of the names on the subscription list are ever given to anyone for any reason. We, at Vibrant Life, can add and delete names from the list, of course, but both the subscribing and the removal process are now automated.
Here is the box that appears on each of some 8,000 pages:
As an alternative to receiving a monthly eMail newsletter, you can add the same newsletter as a "channel" to your desktop. You must have a browser that supports "channels" such as Internet Explorer.
Click here to add the Wednesday Letter as an Channel on your desktop. If your browser is so-equipped, you will be guided through a series of simple questions (about subscription information). Depending on your choices you can show the Vibrant Life Wednesday Letter as one of your "active channels" which will automatically download the new Wednesday Letter every month. In this way you can have the Wednesday Letter delivered to your desktop during the night (or your schedule) for immediate viewing in your browser. You can turn on or off this channel, at will, and delete the channel from your desktop at any time. With this feature operating you can click on the Wednesday Letter channel at any time to read the most recent copy of this electronic letter.

SUBSCRIBE: The Wednesday Letter is a free electronic monthly newsletter written and published by Karl Loren. You can view more than 50 back issues of this publication by clicking here. The Wednesday Letter subscription list is maintained on a secure server, no name is ever given or sold to anyone, and it is never used except for this Newsletter. It is automatically published on the Tuesday night just before the first Wednesday of every month. You can subscribe to this free monthly electronic letter by entering your eMail address and name below. You will then automatically receive a request for confirmation, sent to whatever address you have entered. If you do NOT receive this confirmation request, then you will not be subscribed. There may have been an error with your address and you should resubmit. The letter is never sent twice to the same address -- so you do not have to worry about a duplicate subscription. When you receive this confirmation request you must reply to it, or your subscription will not become active. No one can subscribe your name, and address, without you being notified, and if you get an unwanted notice of subscription you only need to DO NOTHING and the subscription will NOT be active.
REMOVAL: You can remove yourself from the subscription list in several different ways. Click here to read about this entire newsletter system. Every edition of The Wednesday Letter is delivered to your address with YOUR name and address in view on the letter, with a link that allows you to remove THAT name from the subscription list. If you try to send this removal message from an address different from the one you used to send in your original confirmation, then you will get a warning notice first, sent to the subscription address, asking you to confirm that you want to be removed from the list -- by replying to THAT request for confirmation, you will then be automatically removed. Thus, no one else can unsubscribe you, from some other computer, without your knowledge. But, if you send in the unsubscribe notice from the same machine used to receive the Letter, then the removal from the subscription list is automatic.
Personal Message: When you send a personal message to Karl Loren, you will receive a personal reply as per his instructions. Karl pledges that every personal message will get a personal answer. When you provide your mail address, we will send you free information including our free catalog and a cassette tape lecture by Karl Loren about heart disease, no charge, by mail, even if outside the US. You can select particular information you would like to receive, along with the free cassette tape and catalog.
