We like to think of "insurance" as an umbrella, protecting us from the rain! What if the rain is good and the air under the umbrella causes disease?
News Item -- Wall Street Journal Article
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which does comparative economic research for its 29 member countries, recently noted that disability-free life expectancy for female Canadians had fallen to 63.8 years in 1991 from 66.1 years in 1978. Could this reflect the fact that Canadians are increasingly denied health care by long waiting lists for most medical and surgical procedures?
Some years ago I predicted that "health insurance" was nothing more than "disease assurance." Now the statistics in Canada prove me right. We are moving in that direction within the United States.
The word "insure" means "to make certain," or "to be sure that something happens." If you think that "health insurance" is supposed to "make it certain that 'health' happens" you have another think coming!
Just like getting off Prozac, or cocaine, the withdrawal symptoms seem worse than the problem. You will be more healthy, in the long run, if you do not spend any money for so-called health insurance, and, instead, had a prudent amount of money in reserves for health needs. About the only insurance policy I would recommend is the one with a very high deductible -- so that, for instance, the insurance only starts to pay after you have paid out of your own pocket $1,000 or more.
Another sane approach to "insurance" would be the "medical IRA," if that's what is called. You'll see the liberals, and insurance companies, complaining, but the only sane way to have "insurance" is to create a mechanism by which you can put some of YOUR money into an investment account, to be used ONLY for medical expenses (but of your choosing -- not limited to current foolish treatments), and so that, under some circumstance of long term non-use of the funds, they become YOURS for any use. Some variation of this will eventually happen -- otherwise insurance is nothing more than the people who take personal responsibility for their own health paying high premiums so that those who take NO responsibility for their health run up huge medical bills. Even one penny spent to "help" the guy sick from alcohol, or drugs, is a penny in the wrong direction.

I am currently the sole author, and webmaster, and research, for eight different web sites. If you print ALL of the pages on these eight web sites, it would take about 8,000 pages of paper. There is probably no other person on earth who approaches these statistics for personal production.
Three years ago Vibrant Life had no web site. Today about 90% of our new customers come from the web!
Just one year ago it was a minor event of the day to actually have an order placed over the web. Now, we are disappointed if we don't get several EVERY DAY!
The web is growing so fast that it is hard to overestimate its influence in our lives -- just another two or three years from now.
These web sites are among the most successful on the Internet -- when you consider that the great bulk of web sites never create any sales or business.

But, the amazing thing about this Book is how many of his rules and design features I have violated! I continue to be amazed at how well we are doing with the Vibrant Life web site, despite the fact that I have been unaware of design features which are so vital -- per his book.
So, I decided to start over! I'm still reading the book, but I've got a brand new web site and I've started from scratch to develop the same type of information as on many of my other webs. THIS TIME, however, I am designing pages so that they will download very quickly.
This newsletter has often been too heavy with graphics (do you agree?) so I'm reducing them for faster downloading.
Jakob says, and I agree, that if the page won't show up on your screen in 10 seconds or less, you get frustrated and give up. So, the pages on the new web have far fewer graphics, and download quickly.
I've also been amazed that most people prefer to use the search function to find what they want, particularly on a large web site, and that the search link should be at the TOP of every page -- as should be a logo to return to the home page.
These changes, and more, are being made at the new web site. I sure would appreciate your visiting it and sending me a comment.
The address? Well, the web just changed the rules to allow much longer names, and I went for one that would be popular with search engines:

That's a lot to write, but probably most people will find it with a link rather than writing the address into their browser.

A few months before Christmas

Update: both are still clear of cancer.

I'm always interested in new search tools since MOST visitors to my web sites find them because they have used some search tool. They typically enter a word or phrase and search. This new search program has a free version, and a couple more versions that cost money. The free one has worked fine for me. This search engine uses a large number of OTHER search engines so you get the results from many search engines -- no duplicates.
I also like it because when I used it to enter "oral chelation" it found 159 unique web pages and Vibrant Life represented all of those except for a few. There were about 13 of those web sites that were out of business.
