Freedom!

As An Author
And For You As A Reader

The Book

A Beating Heart!

The Book, Life Flow One, The Solution For Heart Disease,   is progressing very nicely in its revisions.

The full second edition is now published -- all 400 pages.  This is almost the entire text of my printed edition.  You can start to access these 400 pages by clicking here, or going to:  http://www.oralchelation.net  When the book is finished there will be more than 2,000 pages available, although the book itself will be probably only 500 pages -- the remaining pages will be footnotes and support material.

As my revising moves along I'll keep you informed.  I've finished Chapter One revision and want to share with you one of the joys of creating on the Internet.  When you review Chapter One you'll see my new technology for handling "footnotes" and supplemental material. Chapter Three is about finished too.  I'm currently still working on Chapter Two.

Compare the "old way," when you took a piece of paper, a pen, and started writing.  Or, in more modern times, when you had a typewriter.  When the first memory typewriter came out, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  I could actually type several words, realize I had a wrong spelling or word, then I would backspace and the typewriter would automatically "white out" the letters I selected.  These typewriters would only handle one line, but that was a marvelous advancement.

Then I well remember I got a very fancy memory typewrite that could store several pages on some internal memory.  I could type a page, store it in memory, and then have this memory typewriter re-play that page.  I could go into that memorized page and make changes.

I realized that there was something better than heaven!

When computers came along my first computer had ALL of its memory on a regular cassette tape.  I had to wait for a long time, perhaps two minutes, for the computer to find some paragraph I had stored on that tape, display it for me to change it.  It was still a fine improvement.

Then there was a flurry of new technology, with more and more memory, more and more accessible.

Currently I have a hard disk with 11 gigabytes of memory.  In the old days I couldn't even imagine that much "stuff," and now I have had to take a few hours deleting stuff because my disk was too full!

Now, of course, using Word 2000, I can open up a document, jump immediately to any page, revise any word or section -- all in seconds.  I composed my entire 400 page book on an earlier version of Word.  I recall taking hours to learn how to do a "Table Of Contents" that would automatically keep track of the changes in the numbers of pages as the document grew in length.  It was a challenge, at first, to learn how to get a footnote referenced on the page, and appearing where I wanted it -- some on the bottom of the page, some at the end of a section.

I would sometimes take an hour or more looking through my clip art for exactly the right graphic image.  But, I got that book finished in just a few months -- in camera-ready copy to go directly to the printer.

As you can guess what is coming along here, I don't ever contemplate sending anything to the printer again!

Writing on the web is a joy and a whole new dimension has been added to the process.  I have learned the mechanics so well that my real energy is available for the research and creative part.  In the past 80% of writing might have been in handling the mechanics.  Now that 80% is done in 10% of the time -- leaving far more time and attention for the more valuable research and creativity.

All the above old procedures were "linear."  I would start at the top of a page and write "downwards."  Footnotes had become very easy, but the writing process was still mostly a linear process -- writing from the top down.

Writing on the web is a three-dimensional process.

I start writing on a subject.  I may have included some "word" in my text -- say "homeopathy."  I suspect that some of my readers may not be certain about what that word means.

I now have several choices to explain the word.  First, I can place a definition of "homeopathy" in the hidden words "behind " the text. (Try it.  Put your cursor over the word "behind.") That is, when you move your cursor over the word, a box of text "pops up" for you to read.  I now have many of those.  Or, I can place a footnote icon next to the word.  Now, of course, you can click on the footnote marker and immediately jump to the actual footnote -- no more turning pages to look for it.   The footnote is on the same page, so it is quick.  You read the footnote and there is another marker that allows you to jump back to the same place in the text.  I use this a lot.

Incidentally, pity all those people with ISP services that won't allow them to receive a message in HTML code, such as this, or whose browsers can't read them!  It's like being blind in a world of books!

But, as it actually happened when I was writing the word "homeopathy" in Chapter One of the Book, I also realized that I had written a 20 page article about homeopathy.  If I were writing a book for print I couldn't possibly include a 20 page "footnote," but on the web I just have yet another type of link.  This one I placed in the footnote.  In other words, I have a footnote that tells you a bit about homeopathy, but WITHIN the footnote is another link to my 20 page article on homeopathy.   The article is on the same web site, so the jump to that article is very fast.

Now as I'm writing on any subject I can, at the same time, think of some supplemental material, go look for it (on the web or amongst my own previous writings) copy that material onto a page, make a link to the word in the main text and continue.  It now takes me just a few minutes to jump from writing a paragraph on page 14 of the text, to add in 30 pages of supplemental material, linked to that one paragraph, and then get back to focusing my attention on page 14.

Since I can, and you can too, think in many directions at one time, the medium no longer restricts me to thinking linearly!  I can be thinking about this one paragraph, writing in a linear fashion, think of some large subject that would make a good supplemental addition, produce it in minutes, and get back to my main writing.

You, as a viewer, reader, have the same degree of freedom.  You can read my page 14 -- ignoring the footnotes completely, as you wish.  Or, you can jump to a footnote and see if it is worth reading in detail.  You can also "study" that footnote carefully.  But, more than that, you can jump to long articles to see more information on some subject YOU happen to very interested in.

You've seen those many "scientific study citations" that are scattered in many writings?  I have many of them in my print Book.  But, previously when I made reference to that study I  provided only a few lines with the technical citation -- a citation which almost none of my readers would be able to verify as to accuracy.  Now, instead of just having a footnote citation, I can get the entire scientific study linked to the footnote.  You can not only read the words in the text, you can jump to a footnote and see where the data came from.  You can not only do that, but you can often then jump to a copy of the entire scientific study, or an abstract of it.

Reading this new edition you have tremendous freedom.  I think you will find that I am setting a new standard for "books on the web."

You can just read, in a linear fashion, down the page.  You will receive the data exactly in the way I have felt would be the best for that data to be presented.

But, as you are reading, you may find some claim to be one that you would like to have more information about.  I hope to be sensitive to these needs, in advance, and would hope to have already placed a footnote reference there.  You can read that, or not -- that is your freedom.

The link might be to a 20 page article.  You can jump to that article, or not -- that is your choice.  You can jump to it, read a few words, decide you don't want to take the time, or that it is not necessary to your understanding, and jump back to the place you left off in the text.  In many cases I even have a link to other web sites for further information.

You can download and print any or all of these pages -- easily.

You can find an error, let me know, and I fix it within minutes.  No print book could ever give you, and me, the freedom to do these things.

Pictures!  I was proud of using 175 graphics images in my 400 page book -- I felt they would add visual content and excitement to the subject.  But, of course, those images had to be in black and white -- for simple economics of printing costs.

Now, all my graphics can be in color -- even moving if I wish.  The cost of including an image is only in the time it takes up while loading onto your screen!  I've planned to use about 500 pictures as I revise the book.  You notice the "moving heart" above, and here?

I've gone even further to allow you some freedoms in this new medium.  I've placed a very lenient copyright notice on my book.  You CAN copy pages, and I've arranged each of the 25 Chapters to be on one page.  Obviously, a "long page" in many cases.  I had the choice of making one Chapter into several different files -- one file for each page.  But, if you then wanted to copy that Chapter you would have to separately copy each file!  The way I've done it, you can read one Chapter and if you like it you can copy the entire Chapter, whether it takes two pages or 44 pages through your printer.  You'll get the footnotes too!  You won't, of course, get the separate articles automatically, but you can jump to those and copy them too.

The whole concept of copyright MUST change on the web.  Too many people feel too free to ignore the restrictive copyright notices that are too often published on the web.  It won't stick!  If people really want to sell their material, or earn royalties, they should NOT publish it to the web -- but only promotional material on the web so that people are persuaded to buy a print version (or a paid-electronic version).

This means that if you want to, you can produce a printed copy of any of my material to share with others.

There are even more freedoms -- such as the automatic spell-checker, and my on-line dictionary that makes it easy for me (and therefore available to you) definitions.

As an example:

In Chapter One of the book, now revised, you can start reading by clicking on:

http://www.oralchelation.net/heartdisease/Chapter%20One/page1.htm

Or, you can jump to the section on that page where I describe how Mr. Rockefeller ruined American medical education, located at:

http://www.oralchelation.net/heartdisease/Chapter%20One/page1.htm#1

The "#1" on the line above is a "bookmark" and it helps you find a specific position WITHIN a page.

When you get to that section, you'll find the word "homeopathy" and you can click on an icon to jump to a footnote on homeopathy, at:

http://www.oralchelation.net/heartdisease/Chapter%20One/page1.htm#f1

Those funny "%" signs?  I have a "directory" called "Chapter One" in the book.  You notice that these words include a space between them.  In the past it was not possible to have the name of a directory include spaces.  It is now possible.  But, the browsers automatically put this symbol "%20" in that space.  A piece of trivia for you.

When you read that footnote, you'll notice TWO more icons which allow you to jump to lengthy articles.  One of those is the 20 page article I wrote, called:  "A Little Goes A Long Way," at:

http://www.oralchelation.net/karl/Homeopathy/data2.htm

When you get inside that article, you'll find about 20 more footnotes, you can read them or not.  Some of these footnotes refer to other, long, articles.  You can read those or not.  At any time you can use your back button to get back to the text where this all started.

In Chapter Two I expose some lies about man's diet and life expectancy.  The text in Chapter Two is rather brief, but it is backed up by dozens of pages of proof.  For instance, click here to review the support for the amazing statement that follows:

If you were a female, aged 60, in the year 1850, you would have had an average additional life expectancy GREATER than a female, aged 60, in the year 1950!  Furthermore, you'll find in other data, the diet of people 150 years ago included many foods which were high in cholesterol.  So, when the doctor tells you that eggs and butter are bad, look him in the eye and say: "I've been reading Karl Loren's Book.  It looks to me like the diet you are recommending is exactly wrong and that people didn't have heart disease 150 years ago when they were eating eggs and butter -- finally, that they actually lived LONGER back then than they do now!  Now, doctor, what do you have to say about your drugs and low-cholesterol diet?"

What wonderful freedom you have!  And, I, as an author, enjoy creating in this environment of freedom.

Once you become familiar with the subjects in the various Chapters, you can use the very brief navigation bar as it appears on many pages:

There are more freedoms for me -- in terms of research.  Perhaps you've heard my story about this?

Many years ago when I needed some research material, I would make a day of it -- I would drive to University of California, Los Angeles, and look around on that campus for the Medical School Library.  But, first, I had to find a parking place where a visitor could park.  The parking lot would only accept "tokens," and I had to find a place to buy those.

Then, finally getting inside the library, it would take me some time to find out where to look.  I might be looking for some scientific article published in a magazine.  I find it!   Then, I look for the photo-copy machine, make sure I have enough coins, copy the pages I want, and eventually get back home.  It would literally take me several hours to get a copy of ONE scientific study.

Now, I pay $14.95 per month for access to a specialized search program called MedGate (click and go look).  Here I can have access to 10,000,000 scientific studies that have been published in any of hundreds of medical journals and other well-accepted references.  I can enter a search phrase and come up with, perhaps, 200 different scientific studies which refer to that search phrase.  I can look at descriptions of all 200 of these studies and click on those I want to read in great detail.  I can even copy the abstracts of any of those studies I want to keep for my own use.  I can paste those into a "footnote" if I wish, or a separate "data page."

I do this!  It takes me only a few minutes to get 50 studies whereas it used to take me several hours to get one!

That is tremendous freedom for an author and researcher -- and it means a world of difference to you, the viewer.

This is an example of how the technology age is affecting you, and me!

I have actually developed my own "web writing technology," and have also relied on a technology of study described on one of the pages in my Book.  Click Here to read about this amazing technology of study -- and see that it also applies to writing.

I love it!

There is nothing so enjoyable in my life as researching and writing.  Part of that is responding to the many personal messages I get.  Don't ever think I don't have time to respond to you personally.  In the old days it was a big chore -- with paper, typewriter and postage.  Now, the message comes in, with the writer's address ready to use.  I answer and send it in seconds!

And when you get an answer within minutes of your question, or hours at the most, you will find THAT a much more enjoyable experience than waiting two weeks for an answer!  Remember that I have, for years, had the policy that I promise to answer, personally, every personal message I receive.  I'll bet you don't know a single author who makes that promise.

There is so much more coming along -- including audio and video.  I go to some pages on the web now where I can click and listen to a one-hour lecture, or see a moving picture of some subject.  These are still very slow and primitive compared to what is coming along.

When I look back at my first computer experiences, and see how far we have come, and look at the next five years, I tremble in anticipation and marvel.  Yet, the facts about heart disease are still not broadly known.  The lies are well known, but the truth is not.  Help me spread this truth by recommending my pages to others.

Read my Book, enjoy it.  Let others know where it is so that they too can become enlightened on this terribly important subject of heart disease.

Also, write to me to let me know what you think of The Wednesday Letter, and this edition in particular.

Lowest Price On The Planet

Many months ago Vibrant Life "discovered" MSM == Methyl Sulfonyl Methane.  There is more information about MSM our web site than any other web site!  But, the only source of supply we had for MSM was quite expensive.  We offered MSM in bulk bottles, 400 grams per bottle, with a retail price of $70.00.  That works out to be about $80 per pound.  I now sell it as low as $18 per pound! How's that for a drastic change!

Well!

Vibrant Life now has the exclusive rights to represent a large factory which makes MSM -- the exclusive rights for all of the United States and Canada.  We have a quota of 500 metric tons to sell during the next year!

There is a brand new section of the web site where many pages describe all the many other web sites where MSM is offered for sale.  These competitive web sites are all summarized on one page to show the cost of the various forms of MSM.

The Vibrant Life price for bulk MSM is now the lowest on the Internet -- as you will see by looking at the dozens of competitive sites we have reviewed.  Even when you buy the smallest bulk package, one kilogram (2.2 pounds) the price is only $40 or $18.18 per pound!

Access this whole new section on MSM, by clicking here.  It is at:

New Search Engine

Here is a new search engine I've found.  I've spent lots of hours working with search engines.  Generally I find AltaVista the best of the popular ones, but this new one is much better.  Check it out.  I now use it almost exclusively.  There is no advertising.  It is quicker than any other.  It gives me better results.  (As a test, enter the phrase "Karl Loren" in this search engine and then go check out the 3000 references you'll find listed!!!)
