My daughter Maia lives in Palmdale, California. her father-in-law had a heart attack and stoke before Maia even married into that family.

When she came to meet her in-laws, she found that her father-in-law was paralyzed, and spent his entire life in bed. The family was affluent enough that they hired a full-time nurse for the day time and the wife took care of those needs at night.

Nine years ago I had colon cancer which required two operations in 8 days. I am completely cured -- only a little scar and 3 feet less of large colon.

Three years ago I had a double bypass and was told that I already was living on borrowed time.

There weeks later the colon operation developed adhesions and I had another major operation.
