Part of that success is your willingness to invest!  It could be an investment of time, or money, but preferably both.  In other words, some MLM that you can sign up for free is off to a bad start.  You have nothing invested, and can easily neglect putting in the time.  So, just as a matter of self-discipline, I suggest you pay in some money for a "distributor kit" or, at least, a batch of literature.

A good sample starting package should require your investment of at least $100.

MLM is at an explosive stage in its growth just now, having expanded modestly for about twenty years, and after increasing the total sales by more than 200% in the last year! The next few years promise to show annual sales expansion approaching 100% each year! This is the time to get in. See the Chart below.

The above chart shows the typical network marketing company growth curve. Typically a new MLM (multi-level marketing) company grows at a very modest rate during the time that it is seeking acceptance for its product. When that product acceptance is achieved, the company reaches a Critical Mass of sales, usually at the level of $50,000,000 per year. That is exactly where many MLMs have been at various times in their history.

Traditionally, the period of most rapid growth for ANY MLM company has been in the few years immediately after it reaches Critical Mass.

There is a very explicit reason for these sudden spurts in growth in both sales and the number of distributors. The heavy hitters have arrived!

In the early years for any MLM company the amateur distributors come aboard. These are the trail-blazers who believe in the vision of the founder and almost make sale of the product into a religion.

When the product starts approaching broad customer acceptance, IF the product is exclusive to the firm, IF the Company is well-financed, and if the other business characteristics are sound, there is a particular type of businessman who starts taking notice.

These are the MLM Heavy Hitters who jump into an MLM only when it approaches the critical mass -- the men and women who enter an MLM with the intention of becoming extremely rich, very quickly.  [Charles Possack has already been aboard for about a year!!  Charles Possack on why he left his old company (Cell Tech) to join RBC: "John, in all My years in MLM, this company has more chance to become a multi-billion dollar company that any I have ever seen. THESE distributors enter with a firm expectation of learning about the product, new to them, and devising a program for adding new distributors in very large batches, and achieving extremely large sales volumes in very short time periods.

In each different MLM Company these Heavy Hitters look for the factors that are unique to that company. Their very successful promotional techniques by no means remain constant, but change to fit the new product and new situation.

There are several years more of this same level of growth to come, in any good MLM, and the techniques used by these Heavy Hitters are not difficult for you to duplicate.

Your MLM MUST have a cassette tape to send out to prospects

Most of the people who read this page have already listened to tapes from many MLMs.   No matter how well done some flyer is, the reader can easily put it away in a fraction of a second.  It takes him a fraction of a second to pick it up, start reading, and throw it away.

Contrast that with a cassette tape. You can not listen to a tape by investing a fraction of a second.  It takes many seconds to load the tape and turn it on.

Once a person has made the commitment to listen to the tape, you have a far greater chance that he will listen to all or most of the tape than you do that he will read all or even part of a brochure.

The cassette tape requires, obviously, more time commitment from the prospect, but once that commitment is made, automatically, you have the prospect's attention for a relatively long period of time.

Also, with sound you are getting a much better impact on the person than with words in print.

And, don't underestimate the difficulty many people having in reading, whereas they can listen and understand more easily.  The emotional tone of a speaker comes across more easily than the desired emotional tone of an author.  It is the EMOTIONS which govern your prospect, not his analytical considerations.

A well done cassette will evoke emotional responses far more easily than any written material.

A video may or may not be as good.  The video obviously can appeal to more of the senses, but it takes much more commitment to start and watch through -- than a cassette.

I started on this heavy hitter program (for Cell Tech), with the help of my sponsor. In less than 90 days I have signed up more than 90 new distributors -- each of whom has purchased at least the $100 starter package. Failures Of Most MLM’s

Most people (probably 90%) fail after getting involved in a multi-level marketing company. The reason is primarily that they aren’t willing to make a commitment to the business just like they would have to make for a "regular job."

Frankly, they are lazy!

Unfortunately, many MLM companies promote "how easy" it is to succeed in MLM. It’s not. It’s all the harder because the new distributor is generally working OUTSIDE of a disciplined environment. It is only the rare person who succeeds in MLM, even though it is theoretically possible for anyone to make it.

Those who make the commitment probably number about 30% of those who start. The rest will say they are active distributors, but they are simply not serious.

But, for those few who DO make that commitment, still only a small percentage of them (probably 10% of the 30%) ever make enough money to justify the time spent. Most people entering the MLM world wind up earning less than $4.00 per hour for all the time they spend in training and sales activities.

I’m now talking about those who are NOT lazy, and who really do work at their program -- attend meetings, and follow all the ordinary plans for building a business.

Thus for every 100 persons who sign up to be a distributor in some MLM, only about 30 are really serious, not lazy, and only about 3 OF THEM will actually make high earnings -- about 3%!

I, and others, have analyzed this second level of failure and found that most often these hard-working distributors recruit a down-line so slowly that they lose hope and interest. The key to successful MLM is SPEED. If you, as I have done, get 30+ distributors in the first 30 days, and see that you can get another 50+ in another thirty days, you have built an organization far larger than 99% of any MLM distributors ever get. You might do this over a one-year period if you were persistent with your work, but the rewards would be so low during those months that you would probably lose interest.

But, when you get 30 or 60 distributors in just a month or two, you can suddenly see the income potential looking very attractive. There is another critical mass, for each individual distributor. Unfortunately, even when you have 60 distributors, you will find that there are probably only three or four who will take the initiative to do what you have done, and build THEIR business rapidly.

But, you see, that is enough. Building an MLM successfully is NOT an issue of getting five people to duplicate what you do. That is too slow. It really is getting 50 people signed up, first, and then looking for the two or three of THEM who will duplicate what you have done.

There are really two very different view of how to build an MLM business:

1. One group says: "Get a few good people and help them develop a few good people, etc., until you have a large group. This approach would be called ‘narrow’ in that you have only a few people on your first level and try to work to build a very deep organization."

2. The other group says: "Get hundreds of people on your first level and don’t worry about trying to help them build their own business. The GOOD ones will show up without help. If you get 100 distributors, you’ll certainly have at least a few good ones. This approach would be called the ‘wide’ approach in that you have as many people as possible on your first level and then work ONLY with those who show some strong interest. You don’t ‘beg’ people to be successful, you help those who really want it!"

I’m certainly leaning toward the second approach. But, I hope to be able to help a lot, too! Now that I have the first 100 distributors signed up, or almost signed up, I’m starting to look for those few who really want to be hugely successful in this business.

Are you one of those?

THOSE two or three persons WILL build their own organizations very rapidly, giving you that magic moment of MLM -- when your organization starts to grow without your involvement at all.

That critical mass is probably about 50 or 60 distributors. THEN, you can expect your group to grow "automatically." The heavy hitters know this, but they are looking to add HUNDREDS of first level distributors, within a very few months, just so they can identify a dozen or so who will seek to expand the same way. THIS is the technique used by those MLM distributors who are earning $30,000 per month within the first year of being in the business.

I fully intend to achieve $50,000 per month income! If you can make a commitment to that same level of goal, I CAN help you achieve it, and we can BOTH make it. This message describes the technique.

Another reason distributors don’t succeed, or don’t succeed quickly enough to make them stick with it is that they either don’t have a sufficiently large "warm list" or are unwilling to promote to their "warm list."

What’s a warm list?

A Warm List is a list of people who know you well enough so that a message to them, from you, will be likely to be opened and read. You all share some common realities. Certainly every doctor has a large warm list! If YOU don’t have such a list with 1,000 names, I’ll bet that you KNOW a dozen people, well, who DO have such a list!

A Cold List is a list of people who have never heard of you, and when you send THEM a piece of promotional material, they are very likely to throw it in the trash. They may even be IN LINE with you, but they are not ALIGNED with you -- don’t KNOW YOU!

If it is a truly WARM LIST, the recipient WILL NOT throw your message or tape away!

In fact, the statistics are dismal for the promotional use of a cold list. Usually you are lucky to get a 1% response from your promotional material, sent to a cold list. I, myself, have achieved better than a 5% response rate even to a cold list. Eventually I’ll be going back to that proprietary technique, but for now I have my own database of more than 60,000 names -- people who do know the name Karl Loren.

After all, I’m a published author, also publish a monthly newsletter. I have a web site with 1,300 pages!  But, before that I had more than 1,000 hours of radio talk show, hosting my own program 30 hours per week. I’ve done more than 200 hours of TV, spoken on platforms all over the United States. I have an MBA degree from Harvard, worked in the Kennedy White House and have even more credentials which make for a very large warm list!

But, anyone, not just a skilled author, who has a warm list can get a response rate dramatically better than the usual 1%. With a warm list of your own, you can expect the rate to rise to 3%, often 5% and even as much as 10%. I obtained better than a 5% response rate to a mailing of 500 cassette tapes to part of my warm list, but in less than 30 days. I expect my rate to continue to improve.

When most hard working distributors start their business they usually have an excuse for not promoting vigorously to the people they know best:

I am VERY close to the people I work with, but wouldn’t dream of discussing a BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY with them!

I don’t like to make profits on my friends!

My relatives will think I’m crazy!

It’s not right! It’s not proper! It’s unethical!

I don’t want to lose my friends!

Etc.!

These distributors then try to solicit interest from strangers, rather from friends at work, in their church or next door, and often fail. They don’t know the power of a warm list. If you don’t have one of your own, spend your energies talking to individuals who DO have their own warm list and promote your business THROUGH that person.

Some extremely successful MLM distributors realized that many MLM products lend themselves to a very unusual and powerful promotional technique.

They discovered that IF you can get a person to listen to one of these cassette tapes the person will very often become interested in trying and/or selling the product.

If you can’t get them to listen, they are very unlikely to be interested by anything you can give them in written form. And, forget trying to sell people some product by talking to them one at a time. You’ll often succeed, for sure, but you won’t build a million-dollar business that way. That’s where the heavy hitters differ from the thousands of successful, but always small, distributors that abound in every MLM company.

Once a person makes the commitment to start listening to a cassette tape, you pretty much have his undivided attention for the full length of the tape. Do you realize how rare it is to get ANYONE’s attention for 30 minutes! It’s an advertiser’s dream!

So, if you send cassette tapes, or even videos, out to strangers, unsolicited, they are very likely to be thrown in the trash without listening.

But, if a good friend of yours sends you a cassette tape, you are at least somewhat likely to listen. You may make an effort to watch a video or listen to a tape -- because a friend suggested it. If he has some opinion leader status relative to you, you are all the more likely to listen or watch.

The percentage of listeners among strangers might be as low as 5% who will listen while the percentage for the warm list may be as high as 20%. Even among your friends, probably three out of five will NOT listen! We are still gathering these statistics, but the warm list gets so many more listening responses that it is worth a lot of effort and energy to find ways to solicit from a warm list.

Some people can look back at their careers (as an attorney, doctor, politician or whatever) and realize that they have spent many years collecting a warm list -- a large group of people who respect and admire them.

They might all be in your home town, or they might be spread out all over the country.

If you are a doctor, you have thousands of patient names in your data base. You MAY think it’s unethical to "sell them things," but let’s look at that as a separate question. If you are NOT a doctor, you surely know several. Or you know someone else who has a warm list.

Some of the most explosive growth in MLMs starts when you break out of the "normal" channel of MLM-Junkies. Go for people with warm lists -- particularly people who have never been solicited before for an MLM product.

You might have 300 classmates from college who you have kept in touch with somehow, and who recognize your name.

You might be an official of a lodge or service club with hundreds of members who know your name.

Do you have a warm list?

Do you have some hesitation of USING such a list? MLM also calls this warm list your Sphere Of Influence.

Is there a group of people, say at least 300, who know your name well enough that they are unlikely to throw away a message coming from you?

If you have that many such friends, you have a warm list that can make you into a very successful distributor for MLM.

Now, to remind you, it is one thing to get someone to listen to a tape, another to get them to try a product, and quite a third to get them to keep using the product.

You can have a "hot list" and a fantastic tape that gets listeners very excited. But, when they use the product they lose their excitement.

The Big Difference With MLM Is That The Product MUST BE EVEN MORE EXCITING Than Any Promotional Description!!!
You Have To Say:  "This Stuff WORKS!!!"

 You might see how this warm list thing works, but still be very reluctant to "take advantage" of your position to try to sell something to these people -- you might even think that such a solicitation would reduce your standing with that group -- somehow.

The really successful MLM Distributors have found a way to promote to this warm list that won’t cause you any embarrassment or worry!

The technique is to send these people an unsolicited cassette tape, but with a message which makes it clear that you are not trying to sell any product or business opportunity. The tone of the message is that you found the information on the tape interesting and you thought they might be interested.

THEN, comes the fun part.

If you can come up with an initial list of at least 200 people. I can handle many thousands, but 200 at a time is a good batch size. These should be people who would recognize your name. They should be the type of people who, if they got a message from you suggesting that they listen to an enclosed cassette tape, might actually listen to it. If you don’t have such a list, find a few who do, and work on ONE of them. You can build a very successful business THROUGH others. I’ll be able to assist you several levels down.

You realize, I’m sure, that we can’t fail with this procedure. If you come up with a list of 500 names, you get 30+ distributors out of the mailing, I also get those same 30 in MY downline -- it’s the magic of multi-level!

If you get the names to me, in some sort of computer format or readable writing I can use, I’ll generate the letters and the mailing labels. Or, you can do this part of it.

These should be, however, only people who will recognize you personally, not just strangers. We’ll get the strangers THROUGH the people that THEY DO KNOW.

There would be such a thing as a hot list -- where the people on the list not only recognize your name but greatly respect your opinion. I’m testing these concepts, but estimate that a hot list should generate 10% of actual signups whereas a warm list will get you 5% or so.

When the response gets above 5%, then the investment of about $2,000 in sending out 1,000 tapes will pay off very quickly. I can show you how this cost can be recaptured within 45 days! After that, you have a large group of distributors where the cost of getting them has already been paid in profits.

I’ll handle not only the cost of such mailings, but all the mechanical actions. The message could be one on YOUR letterhead, or mine, printed HERE, sent to you for signature and mailing.  In many cases, depending on the product, it will be very worthwhile to send a free sample -- but generally ONLY to someone who responds to an offer and makes the request.

THEN, the letter, and the cassette tape, can suggest that they call you. In any event, all of the people in this mailing would be signed up under you, and eventually contribute to your financial success. I have some ideas on how that message can be drafted and will send a draft to you after I’ve heard of your success in using the product.

 

The cassette tape does the selling. If people will listen, they will often be interested enough to call for more information or to sign up. It doesn’t take a large percentage of responses to make this procedure profitable.

 

If you are on my first level, the cost of the tapes for such a promotional mailing will be advanced by me, but subtracted from your future bonus checks from MLM. If this doesn’t work, and there are no bonus checks, then all that cost is mine. If, however, as I expect, the promotion works fine, then I’ll be reimbursed for the full costs, within a few months, out of bonus and profit checks you will be receiving and then, after that, all those bonus checks will be for your account.

There is much more I can do to help build a large number of distributors under you.

I sent out 1,700 tapes when I first tried this and signed up over 90 distributors, each of whom has purchased at least $100 as the initial package of products from an MLM. I expect my investment to pay off well.

SUBSCRIBE:  The Wednesday Letter is a free electronic monthly newsletter written and published by Karl Loren.  You can view more than 50 back issues of this publication by clicking here.  The Wednesday Letter subscription list is maintained on a secure server, no name is ever given or sold to anyone, and it is never used except for this Newsletter.  It is automatically published on the Tuesday night just before the first Wednesday of every month.  You can subscribe to this free monthly electronic letter by entering your eMail address and name below.  You will then automatically receive a request for confirmation, sent to whatever address you have entered.  If you do NOT receive this confirmation request, then you will not be subscribed.  There may have been an error with your address and you should resubmit.  The letter is never sent twice to the same address -- so you do not have to worry about a duplicate subscription.  When you receive this confirmation request you must reply to it, or your subscription will not become active.  No one can subscribe your name, and address, without you being notified, and if you get an unwanted notice of subscription you only need to DO NOTHING and the subscription will NOT be active.

REMOVAL:  You can remove yourself from the subscription list in several different ways.  Click here to read about this entire newsletter system.  Every edition of The Wednesday Letter is delivered to your address with YOUR name and address in view on the letter, with a link that allows you to remove THAT name from the subscription list.  If you try to send this removal message from an address different from the one you used to send in your original confirmation, then you will get a warning notice first, sent to the subscription address, asking you to confirm that you want to be removed from the list -- by replying to THAT request for confirmation, you will then be automatically removed.  Thus, no one else can unsubscribe you, from some other computer, without your knowledge.  But, if you send in the unsubscribe notice from the same machine used to receive the Letter, then the removal from the subscription list is automatic.
