One-A-Day vitamins are one of the biggest rip-offs in the world, but since they are made by Bayer Aspirin, what else would you expect. It is difficult to compare a product like One-A-Day with a product like Life Glow, but the table below gives you some idea. One-A-Day vitamins sell for different prices depending on what store you go to, but $8.00 would be a low average for a bottle of 100 tablets and you take one tablet per day.
Compare that bottle, with 100 tablets to Life Glow with 300 tablets. The One-A-Day costs about $2.40 per month. The Life Glow costs about $70 per month (less if you buy more at one time). That price comparison seems drastic. Why would anyone pay $70 for a product available all over the country for only $2.40?
First, if you take only ONE Life Glow tablet you will still get more of many of the basic vitamins than are contained in One-A-Day tablets. You'll see that comparison below. In the last column of the table is the "% Difference" between one tablet of One-A-Day and 10 tablets of Life Glow. Just slide the decimal point over one position to the right. Where Life Glow provides 50 times as much Vitamin C as One-A-Day, that comparison is between ONE tablet of One-A-Day and TEN tablets of Life Glow. If you take only ONE tablet of Life Glow, the percentage difference is still five times more Vitamin C in ONE tablet of Life Glow than in one tablet of One-A-Day.
So, when you take ONE tablet of Life Glow per day, the bottle would last TEN MONTHS, or about $7 per month!
The cost comparison then becomes $2.40 for one month of One-A-Day with $7 for one month of Life Glow. When you look at the many ingredients in Life Glow that are not contained in One-A-Day you realize that Life Glow is actually far less expensive than One-A-Day for the ingredients which are included.
For instance, ONE ingredient in Life Glow (cysteine) costs more than ALL of the cost of all of the vitamins in that formula. Amino acid ingredients are extremely expensive compared with vitamin ingredients. The Life Glow formula, without ANY of the amino acids, would be a far, far cheaper formula than One-A-Day vitamins. (We wouldn't be willing to sell such a product of course.)
Now, you may not want or need the ingredients in Life Glow. That is a different matter. But it is not logical to say that One-A-Day is "cheaper" than Life Glow because the ingredients are so much different. It's like saying that a dozen rotten eggs are cheaper than one good egg! That's true! But . . . . .
Some people will continue to buy One-A-Day. They are not "bad" vitamins, they are just overpriced -- tremendously.
The company (a drug company, of course!) is also doing a great disservice to the public by promoting their formula as adequate. It is not! But, then, the government says that it is, so who can argue with the government?
