Information is wonderful.
What do you think of TB testing?
I volunteer at a nursing home by
playing the piano and singing for a hymn sing one hour a
month. Last month they were demanding that I have the
test and I said "no".
I go again this Thursday and I'm sure they'll try to tell me again.
I would like to have your thoughts on this subject. Thank-you.

He probably doesn't have the answer -- he will leave you alone. If you ARE interested in the result of the test, whey of course go for it!
This is particularly true of a "lump" in a woman's breast. Almost always the "test" is going to lead, either immediately, or eventually, to a biopsy. They are bad news. If you are willing to have your breast cut off, then, by all means, get the biopsy.
But, if you would like to explore alternative treatments, the time to explore those is BEFORE the biopsy. After a biopsy there are many of the alternative treatments that may no longer be available.
You can if you wish try to convince the test offering person that he/she doesn't know what the alternative treatments are, and doesn't know if the test will eliminate some alternative that you would like to pursue. You can ask him, "Are you trying to limit my choices of treatment?"
Also, read my article on testing. Many times the test itself is dangerous. The biopsy test would be one of those. I have an entire article on "testing" procedures HERE. Click and read. The angiogram, for instance, is usually "sold" as a means of measuring your artery blockage. Whay they don't tell you is that when you agree to get an angiogram, you have also signed some piece of paper that you agree, without further consultation, to have a bypass surgery. They know that some number of people have heart attacks WHILE getting the angiogram. So, if you have a heart attack WHILE having the angiogram, they know that the "only" solution is to do an immediate bypass surgery!
Testing is like vaccinations -- very much overdone in our society. But, if you know where you will be going, and are willing to have that? Then, have the test!
