Friend Of Bones
Scientific Study Of Use
Of Bone Dense Calcium

Friend Of Bone's Personal Messages

Friend Of Bones wrote to Karl Loren on November 26, 1998 and described her concerns about bone loss, and the tests she had done.  She asked about the Bone Dense Calcium.  Karl answered her question and went on to offer her the chance to participate in a scientific study of her own bones, and the use of Vibrant Life Bone Dense Calcium.

This is one of those "future testimonials" where Karl publicizes a person's condition BEFORE taking a Vibrant Life product and includes the name and address of that person.  This is risky business!  If the stuff doesn't work, the results are out there for the whole world to see.

But, if it works, it demonstrates Karl's confidence that Vibrant Life products DO work.

So, you can read here about Friend Of Bones, AS THE STUDY GOES FORWARD.

And, you can contact Friend Of Bones at any time to verify that what is written here is true!

You may be interested in becoming the central figure in a similar study -- write to Karl about your condition before you have taken any Vibrant Life products.  He may publish your story, in advance of results, too.

Further correspondence

Hi,

I just read your article on bones, which I found very informative.  I have a very vested interest in learning as much as I can on this subject.

I saw an ad for a free bone screen and I went in just to see where I might be with things.  At age 35, I was the youngest woman there.  I was surprised when my score came back at -1.6 and they recommended seeing my doctor for a DEXA scan.  I had the DEXA scan this week.  My best score was -2.45 and my lowest was -3. something.  So, here I am at the age of supposed to be having the best bone mass and basically having the skeleton of a 70 year old woman.  What is going to happen when I hit menopause!  Obviously, something weird is going on with my body. I was a heavy dairy consumer until one year ago.  I now drink fortified soy and orange juice.  I also have had six children whom I have all breast fed.  (I am working on the last one now.  He is eight months old.)  I am mystified by what is going on.

I have been reading about ipriflavone and also the MCHA.  I plan to take 600 mg of ipriflavone daily.  I would also like to take the MCHA, but I have some concerns about it.  I really would like to know more about these cows before I eat their bones.  Are these healthy cows?  What are these cows fed?  Do they eat animal based feed?.  (Mad cow concerns?)  I don't want to be paranoid, but I feel I need to know more about the processing and quality controls of MCHA, before I can take it.  Can you give me any leads on where to find out more about this supplement?

Any leads you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Friend Of Bones

Karl Loren's Response on November 26, 1998:

Dear Friend Of Bones,

Wow!  What a great letter.

Here is what I'd like to do with and for you.

First, I really like your language.  I would like to publish your entire message (amplified or edited by you, as you may wish) somewhere on my web site.  (I might, or you could, amplify your message to explain more about the mechanics of the bone scan and the readings, etc.)

Then, I'd like to get even more technical information from you -- copies of your test readings, etc., stuff I could also publish, leaving out your actual name if you insist, but even preferring to include all of that.

Next, I would like to publish this material BEFORE you start taking OUR MCHA, and then, I'm sure, you would be wanting to go back and get more of those bone scans after some interval -- so you can see how your bones are getting better, if they are.

I would, incidentally, also publish THIS entire message to you, and any subsequent messages on this subject between us.

My favorite type of testimonial is where I publish data BEFORE the person starts taking some product of ours, and also provide that person's name and address -- demonstrating that I am so confident about the results that I publish the data BEFORE we even know about those results, even including the name of the person so that any who are interested can verify the honesty of my report.

It would be something like this:

1.  Friend Of Bones has bone scan results like this, now.

2.  You can write to Friend Of Bones to verify that she, a person independent of Vibrant Life, has these results.

3.  Friend Of Bones has started taking Vibrant Life Bone Dense Calcium.

4.  We all hope and predict that within six months her bone density readings will be much better.

5.  Progress reports as the further bone density tests are done.

I wouldn't want to, and couldn't "hide" any of what is happening because thousands of people would see the start of this test and be able to write to you and ask.  (I really doubt that more than one or two might actually write, but any of them COULD!)  (If you are concerned about getting too many inquiries, we could put some small barrier on the message line -- for instance giving only your mail address, not your eMail address, and even giving a PO Box address rather than a street address, if you wish.)

In all the thousands of bottles of Bone Dense Calcium we have sold, I don't think we have ever had anyone who had a bone density test BEFORE taking our product.  (I actually did have these tests done on myself, and the age of my bones decreased remarkably.)

So, Friend Of Bones, the above would be the test for all to see.

Now, even though I am wanting to publish all of this for the whole world to see, I also, now, openly make you this further offer.

I'll provide our Bone Dense Calcium at a 50% discount for this purpose.  In other words, you can get into this test using our calcium product at only $35 per bottle, based on your willingness to allow me to publish this story (in advance of results) and getting your agreement to keep me informed as to your subsequent tests.

Your experience could save the bones of thousands of others.

Next, I do have some answers for you now, about those cows!  But, I would also pledge to do even more research on the dangers, or lack of them, in using bones of cows with hormones in their feed, etc.

The bones used for our MCHA come from Australia and New Zealand.  This is common for high quality calcium because the Australian and New Zealand cattle, as I understand it, are not allowed to have those hormones and artificial substances in their feed.

I have accepted this to be true in my investigations, but I would now propose that my own research go further into this and even to get evidence that this is true (besides getting evidence that hormone-fed cattle have some inferiority to their bones).

In other words, Friend Of Bones, I invite you to help the whole world with a scientific study of one person.

I'll now have to go find out what ipriflavone is.  Perhaps you can tell me now.  I suppose it is some drug?  Are you committed to using it?  You are convinced that it is good?  I won't start my study of it until I hear from you, but believe me I have prodigious research skills and can find stuff about drugs that most others don't even know where to look for.

Well, I couldn't wait.  I've found 54 scientific studies (Click Here To Review) about ipriflavone, and have already copied ALL of them onto my web page about calcium.  They are not yet published, but will be.  I would even have sent them all to you with this message but it would cause the size of the message to be so large as to choke your eMail program, possibly.   From just a preliminary reading it appears that this stuff is intended for post-menopausal women?

How about it?

If I can get a photo of you and your family, all the better.  I would publish that also.  And, whatever you are willing to give me that I can publish about your family and life.

I'm eager to hear back from you.

Warm regards,

Karl

Karl Loren's Next Message:

Dear Friend Of Bones,

I have had a few more thoughts and am pleased to be able to write them as "predictions" for you, even though I've not yet personally researched this, nor had a reply from you from my last message.

I'll wager that the "free bone test" you had was paid for, if you trace it back, only by Ipriflavone.  And, that the entire purpose of that free test was to scare you into getting the fancier test where, I'll bet, there was a doctor who gave you a sales talk on Ipriflavone.

I'll bet that somewhere, well hidden, that doctor makes money by prescribing this drug.  It could be this way:

Drug companies will often offer a doctor a research grant.  The drug company pays $500 per patient, for instance, in return for the doctor testing the bone density on a patient before and after using the drug.  Or it will be something like that.

I'm rather cynical, of course, when it comes to doctors and drug companies.

Also, and I swear I've not investigated this at all, I'll bet that drug costs at least $50 per month?

And, you saw how there were 54 scientific studies on this drug?  Well, there are less than a half dozen on MCHA, and they are quite old.

Isn't it interesting that "scientists" do studies on drugs, in great number, but hardly ever on natural substances!

And, I'll bet that you are drinking that orange juice because someone (a doctor?) told you that the calcium added to orange juice is good for you?  (I think that is not useful calcium added to orange juice -- at least not at all useful for helping your bones.)

Also, I forgot to mention in my first message that the technique of grinding the bones from those Australian cattle is probably more important than the type of cattle being used.

Our MCHA is ground at low temperature, and is exceedinly fine in size.

Also, there are other ingredients along with our Bone Dense Calcium which cost quite a bit more than the calcium component which is, already, quite expensive.

We have Chondroiten Sulfate Complex which helps those collagen matrix grids grow == without which the calcium won't help.

And, when you read the scientific studies you'll see that many of those studies gave the drug plus some calcium.  I haven't even read more than three of them, but I'll bet that when I read them they never even tell what type of calcium they use.

The "scientitists" who do these drug-company supported studies hardly ever recognize any difference between forms of calcium, and probably use "calcium carbonate," the cheapest and least absorbable there is.

Finally, has anyone suggested to you that breast feeding depletes your own calcium, and that as you are still breast feeding the quality of the bones in your baby is affected by the quality of calcium you have available?

Finally, I have not read all those studies, but I believe they will claim only that the drug prevents further bone loss.  I don't think any drug has the courage to claim a reversal of bone loss.

Our calcium does reverse bone loss -- without any drug being used at all.

Oh, what a wonderful future you have at least as far as your bones, and the bones of the nursing baby!

Happy  Thanksgiving!

Karl Loren

Karl's further message:

Dear Friend Of Bones,

Did you read this footnote:

The Reference Was:

Bone density is measured by a scanning machine. Special types of x-ray machines can do this, and you should be sure you get tested only with the modern testing equipment.

X-ray machines are not accurate enough to measure small amounts of bone loss. The proper procedure is called dual x-ray absorptiometry. The machines which do these are rather rare, so be sure your testing place has one. Don’t accept the dual photon absorptiometry which is not as good.

Listed below are several scientific studies which utilize this type of density measurement. Read at your leisure.

[Friend Of Bones decided to not take me up on this offer!  I'm sorry about that, but she is going her way with confidence.  December 1998.]

If you think you have a case that would be just as interesting to others, please let me know and your story could be published here.
